Friday - Away at Dublin Jerome HS
Summer Uniform
4:15 - Report Time - Students report to the Practice Field
10:00 - ETA Back to DCHS

Note about the weather:

I hope your children have kept you informed of everything we are doing to keep your children hydrated and safe in the hot weather.  We have been staying inside for roughly the first hour and then spending the last hour and 15 minutes outside.  During that time we are taking water breaks (or gush-and-go's) every 10 to 15 minutes.  The most important thing is to keep drinking water not only during practice but throughout the day and night.  Please help us communicate this.
Also - Please help us by making sure that every child has a large water bottle.  Not a bottle of water.  We have talked about this since May and a few kids still are coming to practice without water.  This results in them drinking out of someone else's water bottle which has its own health risks as well.  Thanks for all your help!
Side Note: During this hot weather, the students are still learning at a high rate and working extremely hard during rehearsals.

Thank You!

This past Friday, every student was picked up within 20 minutes of the Remind Text arrival announcement.  Thank you for being courteous to not only your student but also the directors in being prompt to our pick-up times.

Student Summer Uniform:

All Students should mark all parts of their Summer Uniform with their initials.  This will be done for a grade in a week or so.

Donating or Running/Walking the Band's 5K Event

Over the years, we've had many parents and parents' companies make donations to the Band on the Run 5K.  This is an excellent taxable donation to make to our Coffman kids for things that go above and beyond what our booster organization can provide.  If you are so inclined to want to make a donation in your name or anonymously, please see this flyer for more information.  All funds raised through the DCMB 5K go directly to Dublin Coffman Marching Band students.  They help us bring in the nationally known designers and help us with our props out on the field.  (Side Note: The props for this year were made possible by an anonymous donation.)  "Thank You"!!
If your business can help our kids or if you just want to make a donation, please consider doing so!

Uniform Instructions for Competition Uniform

Black Pants Uniform (known as the "Competition Uniform")
The hems are adjustable by snaps AND by the suspenders.  Please take the time before Friday to do the following:
  • Find the hem length that puts the hem of the pants GENTLY touching the shoe laces.  NOTE: Students should stand at playing position to find this length.  You can adjust the hem AND you can adjust the bib straps near the shoulders.
  • Once you find the correct length, all pants should be pressed/ironed with LOW HEAT.  All students will be inspected on Friday.  Please show your child how to iron.  These are important life skills they need.
  • All Winds and Percussion need long Black Socks
  • Hem Side View
  • Hem Front ViewHem Front View

Facebook Etiquette:

This is our bi-annual reminder of how we use the Closed Facebook Page "Dublin Coffman Bands".
The directors view their page just like a "Bulletin Board" in our band room.  We want to use this page to post pictures, congratulate students and parents, funny anecdotes or anything that promotes our students.
Please do not post negative comments about situations that may arise.  Obviously this is not bulletin board material. If you ever have a concern, those should be addressed to a director.  The second is not to ask questions on the Facebook page.  Social Media is a wonderful place to share stories but not a great place to ask questions.  Sometimes someone answers incorrectly.  Sometimes a director doesn't see the question.  Please feel free to send your question to a director and we will answer every question as soon as we can.

Helpful Hints for Student Pick-up

Picking up students after away games and contests:
THIS MUST BE FOLLOWED. No one is allowed to park in the loop where the buses drop off the kids. There are many dangerous situations when parents try parking next to the bus that makes it frustrating for everyone else to get into the parking lot. Students also are put in a dangerous situation when they try walking in-between buses and then through the driveway. The best place to park is in the south side teacher parking lot.  Any car parked in the loop will be asked to move before the students will be released from the buses.

Student safety is the number one concern for all of us. Please follow these simple guidelines to ensure all kids are picked up without incident. Thank you.
